What a FANTASTIC meeting we had on Saturday! Thank you all for coming – it was the biggest meeting we’ve had in a while and we were so pleased to see so many new faces!
A special thank you and big “welcome” to the newcomers – Beverly Suther from Colorado Springs, Alex & Jeff Whitze from Boulder, Tom & Eileen Corbiere from Windsor, and Jim & Joyce Brown from Laramie, WY (our first interstate members!) And always great to see our other members, Rick & Diana Rea, Anne Brandenburg, Ed & Betty Blincoe, John & Sheila Mozer, and Tom Newman!
We talked about the TMA sponsored luncheons coming up for KIT groups – meetings for TMA members (always free to be a member! – to join click here for the TMA website), local doctors, and the TMA Medical Advisory Board. We gave an update on the previous IBM surveys (sorry, all surveys are closed right now), and an update on the 2013 TMA Conference to be held in Louisville, KY October 17th – 20th (click here for more information about that event).
We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Amy Dee from Accessible Systems (click here for their website). Her presentation on home modifications was stellar, with tons of information and lots of before/after pictures to show what amazing transformations are possible! Mo & I were so impressed with this company – really great work! I was taking notes like a madwoman so I can share a lot of the modifications shown at the meeting – look for those upcoming posts!
Amy Dee also mentioned their adapted show home very near Swedish Hospital – we might set-up a field trip before our September 21st (National Myositis Awareness Day) meeting so we can all check it out! If you want to look around before then, here’s the info:
Accessible Systems call us at 303-693-7787
We are located on the frontage road of Hampden Ave.(Highway 285) at the Federal Blvd. exit, next to the McDonalds.
Call to schedule an appointment if you’d like to speak with someone while touring, or if you want to look around on your own the house is open Monday – Friday 8AM-5PM and Saturday 10AM-3PM. Every 4th Saturday is free donut day, and who doesn’t love free donuts? In any case, this is a great place where you can try out some of the equipment before you buy – want a stair lift ride? wonder how to wheel into a universal shower? where could an elevator fit in your house? The possibilities are endless.
